How to check an Indian hospital’s NABH accreditation yourself

Somebody has told you a hospital in India is accredited. Your medical visa will be tied to whichever hospital is named on your invitation letter, so the question is not academic. NABH publishes a register you can search yourself, free, with no login. This page is about what to look at in it, and what each thing means.
We do not look anything up for you, and this page never contacts NABH. We are not the register and we are not going to stand in front of it. Every answer below ends at a link to NABH’s own page, which is where the facts live and where they are kept up to date.
This is not medical advice, it is not a recommendation, and it is not a judgement about any organisation. It is a report of what a named register publishes and what we found when we read it. It names no hospital, quotes no treatment price and endorses nobody. An accreditation is not a price, an outcome, a waiting time, or a promise about any individual doctor.

Where this came from, and what we cannot do for you
Nothing on this page was written for it. Every quoted line is lifted out of four files we already had: two published guides, and two of our own working files in which a human read NABH’s pages and wrote down the date. Two of those four are internal notes rather than reviewed pages, and every line taken from them says so where it appears. The honest next step, which is a small one
Infirmy is a marketplace where hospitals and medical facilitators are meant to answer a patient’s case. Today it has no hospitals listed, and nobody is currently reviewing the cases people post. We have verified no hospital, so we name none and recommend none — including on this page, which is about how to check one.
So there is no next step here that gets anybody an accreditation, a verification or a hospital. The next step is NABH’s own page, and it is linked above. If you want to write down what treatment you are looking for anyway, the case form stores it and tells you what it does with it first. Nothing you answered above is carried into it — this tool has kept none of it.
